Daily Action: Turn these Districts Blue

Today, our Swing District Team asks all of us to pitch in to help turn one or all of these key districts blue.

Just next door in the 25th District, Wendy Blohmendahl of the Simi Valley Dem Club is running a voter registration event in Simi this Saturday, 5/27: and if you're serious about wanting Rep. Steve Knight out in 2018, this is the work that needs done, You can sign up below for one or both of two shifts: 8:45-11 a.m. or 10:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Spanish-speaking volunteers are greatly needed!

We also have phone banks this week and next for the hotly contested Special Congressional Elections on June 20th. You can sign up below to call for both Jon Ossoff in Georgia and Archie Parnell in South Carolina. Not a caller? You can also sign up to host a phone bank or to bring snacks/drinks for the callers.

We all have been busy calling and writing our elected officials; and we know by now that some of them just aren't going to fight the Trump agenda. That means our focus turns to replacing those legislators, and in the Special Elections happening across the country we have that chance right now. Jon Ossoff has defied the odds and forced a Run Off Election in the conservative Georgia 6th Congressional District. In his primary, outside groups like ours made more than 100,000 phone calls for his campaign. Also riding the wave of anti-Trump sentiment across the country is Archie Parnell, running in the South Carolina 5th CD. Taking back the House begins now, and the power California brings to these campaigns makes a real impact.

In the California 25th Congressional District next door to us, our friend Rep. Steve Knight has repeatedly bobbed and weaved when his constituents ask him to commit to a position; and then voted with Trump 100% of the time. That's a risky position for a congressman whose district went for Clinton in 2016, and whose district demographic is tipping more progressive every month. But the demographics don't matter if we don't get those new blue voters to the polls in 2018; and to get them to polls, we must reach out and register them, beginning the voter engagement we hope will help defeat Knight. A progressive in the 25th is a process that begins right now.
