Sample Script:
Hello, my name is __________, and I am a constituent of Senator/Representative ___________'s in _______________, California. I am calling to urge the senator/congressperson not to agree to any compromise on this month’s 2019 spending bill that provides funding for President Trump's border wall. Wasting even $5 billion on this boondoggle would do nothing to slow immigration, but would stand as a monument to xenophobia and wreak untold damage on America's standing in the world. The American people demand a clean funding bill that does not invest in bigotry. Thank you!

As Congress gets closer to the Dec. 21 deadline for averting a government shutdown, Trump continues to demand at least $5 billion in funding for a wall on our southern border. The Senate previously had agreed to a compromise budget that included nearly $2 billion in beefed-up border security, without any funding designated for a wall. The pressure to compromise is increasing — but the vast majority of analysts still believe a border wall of the sort Trump envisions would be an ineffective deterrent for immigrants. Its symbolism, however, would be disastrous for a "nation of immigrants." Democrats must stand firm against giving Trump a victory for xenophobia and racism.
