With so much happening spending time together is very empowering and positive. A representative from CAUSE will be speaking at our meeting; we hope you can join us. Please RSVP for address.
Now....Environmental Disaster in Oxnard and what you can do to help.
The longest stretch of beach in Ventura County is all but off limits. The Oxnard coastline is home to 3 gas power plants, a Superfund site, municipal water treatment plant and agricultural run off. Now Edison and NRG want to add a 4th gas power plant. Environmental groups have drawn a line in the sand, (literally). The California Energy Commission is holding a hearing on the the power plant permitting and CAUSE (Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy) has asked us to stand with them in opposition to this project. The power plant not only contributes to blight in the community, there is a large body of evidence that the need for more energy of this kind doesn't exist. These 2 LAT articles are worth a read;
This is where we come in; We will join our friends from CAUSE to form a human corridor leading to the hearing in the Ventura Room. Get out your markers and poster board and make a sign or you can use the signs that CAUSE will make available. We will still meet at 5:00 and are encouraged to stay for the public comment period at 6:00.
When: July 26th @ 5:00 for the rally, the comment period begins at 6:00: Where: Oxnard Performing Arts & Convention Center
800 Hobson Way
