GLOBALLY TRANS:  STRENGTHENING OURSELVES IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

  • Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3327 Old Conejo Rd., Newbury Park (map)

Please join us to hear about Dr. Kalki Subramaniam’s personal, professional and activist journey as a gender non-conforming person in India and the world.  Our Q&A will be a collaborative effort including Jennifer Eis, Co-founder of Indivisible: Conejo who will be available to speak to local issues and resources. Jude Ezra Goodman will also be on hand to speak about the newly opened LGBTQ+ Community Resource Center in Ventura. Celia Daniels will be representing the FFLUID support group.

Dr. Kalki Subramaniam (Hon.) is an entrepreneur, activist, artist, author, and actor and an inspirational speaker.  She founded the Sahadori Foundation, which works for the social, economic and political empowerment of transgender persons in India.  She initiated the Trans/hearts project and has been encouraging transgender people to paint their untold stories on canvas.  Kalki was one of the major campaigners behind the Indian Supreme Court’s verdict legalizing transgender identity and healthcare in India.  Among her many accolades, Kalki was recognized in 2015 by Facebook Inc. as One of the 12 Most Inspiring Women on Social Media working on community development.

Indivisible: Conejo is a Thousand Oaks-based progressive group, part of the nationwide Indivisible movement, supporting action on social and economic issues including immigrants’, women’s and LGBTQ+ rights.
