EMERGENCY Meeting - Education & 1st Amendment Teams

Please join us for a discussion of the current crisis within the Conejo Valley USD, as the board forces implementation of its censorious "opt-out" policy and responds to recent threatening actions by board member Mike Dunn. We'll strategize for protests and comments at the Feb. 6 board meeting; we'll also discuss (and provide an opportunity for interested activists to write) letters to board members and other public officials, as well as letters to the editor.

We'll provide the location for the meeting after you RSVP.

Rescheduled: First Amendment Team Meeting

RESCHEDULING Indivisible: Conejo
First Amendment Team Meeting
-- Due to Attack on First Amendment

First Amendment team members! Circumstances beyond our control require that we reschedule next week's team meeting to TUESDAY (not Monday, as previously planned) the 26th at 7:30 p.m. The location will remain the same -- a home in Westlake Village where we've met before.  Please RSVP for Tuesday's meeting, and if you've previously RSVP'd for Monday, please do so again so we get a good count of who's coming on Tuesday!

Why are we rescheduling? We're glad you asked. Just this past Tuesday night, the Conejo Valley USD board announced that it will be conducting a special “discussion” meeting next Monday, the 25th, at 4 p.m. to talk about creating an official opt-out policy, for parents who don’t want their students reading particular works of literature in the high school curriculum.

Many members of our First Amendment team will want to attend, and participate in, this meeting. I personally will be doing so -- and chances are slim that the board meeting will end in time for our previously scheduled 7 p.m. team meeting.

We apologize to anyone who was planning to attend on Monday but can’t on Tuesday. Hopefully most of you will be able to adjust to the new date; and of course, as First Amendment Team members, we value the reason we have to reschedule. Hope to see you at both meetings.

CANCELLED & RESCHEDULED FOR 5/18: Environment Team Meeting

Thanks to all who came to our great meeting last week at Julie Beth Martin's home!  We had a bunch of new arrivals as well as previous attendees.  As noted earlier, we have reshuffled our action teams, and we now have four terrific teams for you to choose from.  Click here to see the teams and to sign up for the team you want.

We hope to see everyone, including more new folks, at our next meeting: Thursday, May 11, 7pm. We’ll send the address after you RSVP. Please RSVP for this meeting, above.

Finally, we have some upcoming events: if you’re joining us for this weekend’s Los Angeles March for Science on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, please RSVP here and let us know if you want to carpool to the metro station or if you’ll meet us there.

On April 29th, we hope you’ll join us for the local Climate March in Ventura – here’s the link for more information and to RSVP: There’s also a Climate March down in the LA Harbor/Long Beach area, if you’d like to check that out, though Indivisible: Conejo won’t be organizing a team to head down there: April 29 Climate March

Thanks, all!
