Amidst the ongoing drama of the Conejo Valley USD school board race — drama that has continued even into the dog days of summer — a quiet process has been moving forward to winnow this spring’s five “good governance” candidates down to three for the fall. The teachers’ union has weighed in, and so have various other individuals and groups. Last month we informally polled dozens of activists who have been most involved in fighting the extremist board majority’s actions over the last 18 months.
After months of forums, meet-and-greets, conversations, fundraising (and real-world demonstrations of the contenders’ acumen for solving problems within the district), Indivisible: Conejo is excited to announce its endorsements for the 2018 CVUSD board race: Jenny Fitzgerald, Cindy Goldberg and Bill Gorback. We are confident that these three candidates will carry sanity and moderation to victory this fall. These are the leaders who will restore our district's reputation for excellence in education.
Very soon we will begin sharing ways in which you can (and should) become more deeply involved in this fight for our schools, by sharing information with your friends and neighbors about the crisis at CVUSD and the leaders who will put a stop to it. That initiative is being spearheaded by onetime candidate Mary Anne Van Zuyle; the nobility she exhibited while exiting the race has been matched by her resourcefulness in organizing a coordinated (and well-funded) effort to ensure our mission's success.
Congratulations to Jenny, Cindy and Bill. Now, on to victory in November!
