Rejecting “fake news” has become a touchstone of media literacy in the Trump era. Here's how to spot it, and avoid sharing it.
It’s back to the barricades for activists in the Conejo Valley, as we must ward off more reactionary censorship from the local Christian Right. Meanwhile, Indivisible: Conejo is being honored by the county Democratic Party, we’re hosting a Bar Night and more Debate Parties, and we’re getting ready for Conejo Valley Pride! Check the calendar for all the details.
As we reach a more and more dangerous time for American democracy — in Washington and in the red states — Indivisible: Conejo continues its activism at every level of government. Our #StopTheBans protest was a huge success … and now we’re readying another streetcorner action on impeachment for 6/15. As we monitor the church/state indiscretions of Thousand Oaks Mayor Rob McCoy, we’re preparing for the first Democratic Presidential Debates on 6/26 & 27. We’re also getting excited about Conejo Valley Pride 2019!
It’s been an urgent, and exciting, season of activism for Indivisible: Conejo — and it continues this weekend with our Accountability Coffee with Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin. This winter we’ve introduced the new Indivisible On Offense and Indivisible States guides; co-sponsored A Forum on Gun Violence and organized responses to Westboro Baptist Church’s hate; lobbied elected officials during office visits and council meetings … and so much more!
Like the rest of our community, Indivisible: Conejo activists are still recovering from the tragedies of November. Even as we focus on the policy challenges raised by the Borderline shooting and Woolsey Fire, we’re looking back on our midterm-election victories and preparing to go on offense with our legislators in 2019-20. Look inside this newsletter for details of our upcoming Town Hall on Gun Violence, our Holiday Potluck, and our January General Meeting!
The countdown to the 2018 midterms is on, and Indivisible: Conejo and its partner organizations have an action-packed calendar of canvassing, phone banking, postcard writing and more straight through November 6!
