Our Town Hall with Rep. Ted Lieu brought the congressman together with Conejo Valley students and activists to talk about preventing gun violence, Trump and the 2018 elections, and other issues. Dramatic developments at the T.O. City Council and CVUSD board once again require our activism — and the campaign season’s canvassing schedule is heating up!
Anti-immigrant agitators have brought the drive to undermine SB 54 to Thousand Oaks and surrounding cities — so we must rise up again to defend California values and our immigrant neighbors! Meanwhile, more protests & town halls have kept the debate going over gun violence — and we’re gearing up for Rep. Ted Lieu's Town Hall on May 5 in Agoura Hills! Lots of canvassing opportunities are coming soon — and you can still order your Indivisible: Conejo tee shirt through Monday 4/30!
The national uprising against gun violence has continued with protests and congressional Town Halls -- and Indivisible: Conejo is excited to be hosting Rep. Ted Lieu's Town Hall on May 5 in Agoura Hills! We're hitting the streets again to canvass and register voters this Sunday and next Saturday -- and we're selling Indivisible: Conejo tee shirts again, just in time for summer!
How can we sustain the momentum for curbing America's gun violence epidemic that has been created by the Parkland survivors and last week's March for Our Lives? Indivisible: Conejo is working with a coalition of student leaders and gun-violence-prevention groups to build on recent successes - beginning with a protest outside a "Friends of the NRA" fundraiser in Oxnard on Saturday 4/7.
Conejo Valley high school students' participation in the National Student Walkout on March 14 and the upcoming March For Our Lives -- sandwiched around the shooting at the Oaks Mall on the 17th and multiple threats of violence at Westlake High School -- have all brought local awareness of our national epidemic of gun violence to a fever pitch. Indivisible: Conejo remains ready to assist our students as they participate in the march this Saturday and another walkout on 4/20 -- and we remain at the forefront of the debate over how to enhance gun restrictions and keep our community safe.
Our CVUSD Challengers Forum on March 4 gave the candidates a chance to present their visions for our school district's future -- setting them up to defeat extremists Mike Dunn and John Andersen in November. Speaking of which, we're getting ready for Sunday's first Conejo Valley canvass with the DCCV, in Newbury Park. And we're helping area students organize their participation in L.A.'s March for Our Lives on 3/24. Check our calendar for details!
Even as we get ready for Indivisible: Conejo's CVUSD Challengers Forum, coming up this Sunday, we're helping facilitate area students' plans for participating in upcoming actions protesting America's epidemic of gun violence -- including school walkouts and the March For Our Lives on 3/24. We're also preparing for our first canvassing day in the Conejo Valley on 3/11 (in partnership with the DCCV) and our St. Patrick's Day trip to beautiful Bakersfield (to flip CA's 21st congressional district)!
The CVUSD school board's unanimous vote to censure trustee Mike Dunn, after he threatened the employer of a blogger who criticized him, shifted the debate heading into the 2018 campaign. Indivisible: Conejo helped lead the protests against Dunn, and on March 4 we'll host a forum for the candidates to replace him and his enabler John Andersen. There's also a calendar full of upcoming canvassing opportunities and community events!
Tensions boiled over this week surrounding the Conejo Valley USD school board -- and right-wing extremist Mike Dunn, in particular -- after he threatened a critic's employer. Next week's school board meeting will be a venue for protesting his unethical and dangerous behavior - and Indivisible: Conejo will be in the middle of those protests. Meanwhile, our Early Retirement Party for Rep. Steve Knight was a great success, and efforts to oust Rep. David Valadao in CA-21 got off to a fine start.
As we get ready for the Women's March & Ventura County Rising on Saturday 1/20, we're also excited about our Early Retirement Party for Rep. Steve Knight, coming up on the 27th -- and for the Postcard Parties that will help us send him off in style! There's also a civil-disobedience campaign afoot, as parents across the Conejo Valley reject the new CVUSD opt-in policy. Read all about it!
